Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main destination categories and correctly report the key figures, including full-time work at 52%, unemployment at 12%, and the two 8% groups. However, the response only minimally covers the salary table: it mentions starting and ending percentages but omits the middle salary bands and gives little meaningful comparison across employment types. The claim that government-sector salaries “grow to almost 50%” is imprecise; 50% is the share in the highest salary band, not a rise over time. There is also no clear overview drawing together the most important patterns in both visuals. To strengthen the report, summarise the main contrasts in the table and accurately describe what each percentage represents.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic, understandable structure: an introduction is followed by one paragraph on the pie chart and another on the table. “Firstly” and “Secondly” help signal the shift between visuals, and most details appear in a sensible order. However, the progression within the table paragraph is less clear, particularly in “Freelance consultants is at 5% at the start and still growing,” where the reader must infer that the figures refer to salary bands rather than time. The repeated use of “presents” and “at the start” also makes the linking mechanical. Grouping the salary information by meaningful comparisons, and using clearer references such as “the lowest salary band” and “the highest band,” would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary such as “destination,” “graduates,” “employment,” and “salary,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, including “the chart represent,” “still growing,” “best start,” and “lowest salary” when describing percentages across salary bands. “At the start” suggests a time sequence, although the table compares income categories. There are also spelling errors in “Goverment” and “Antrhropology.” Aim for precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “the proportion earning,” and “the highest salary bracket.” This would make the comparisons clearer and reduce the reader’s need to interpret what the figures refer to.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate mainly through simple sentences, and the basic meaning is usually recoverable. However, subject–verb agreement and sentence construction are frequently inaccurate: “The pie chart illustrate” should be “illustrates,” and “Freelance consultants is” should be “Freelance consultants are.” Articles and phrasing are also awkward in “The Full-time work is largest about 52%,” while the final table sentence joins several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries. The response shows little variety beyond simple statements and repeated “is” constructions. Practise accurate comparative sentences, for example, “The government sector had the largest share of employees earning $100,000 or more, at 50%.” Check agreement, articles, and punctuation when combining comparisons.
