Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both visuals and identify the main destination, full-time work, as the largest category. You also report several salary figures accurately, including the 50% of government employees earning $100,000 or more. However, the overview is incomplete: it says graduates who did not work were the smallest group, although unemployment is 12% and the smallest category is part-time work combined with postgraduate study at 5%. The statement that 8% entered postgraduate study full-time is also inaccurate; 8% were in full-time postgraduate study, while another 8% were listed as not known. Some comparisons in the table are difficult to follow, and the private-company salary range is misreported as $250,000–49,999 rather than $25,000–49,999. Select the key contrasts and check each figure carefully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on graduate destinations and one on salaries. This helps the reader distinguish the two visuals. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, particularly in the final paragraph, where figures for freelance consultants, government and private companies are combined in long sequences. Linking expressions such as “However,” “While” and “On the other hand” are used, but some do not clearly show the relationship between the figures they introduce. For example, “On the other hand” precedes the smallest destination category rather than a clear contrast. Group related salary bands together and use direct comparisons to make the information easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full time work,” “unemployed,” “postgraduate study” and “salary,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated or used unnaturally, such as “the same ratio” and “the amount of.” Some word choices also make the meaning less precise: “graduates what perform work” is not a natural way to describe employment, and “not performed any work” does not accurately express the category “not known.” There are also errors in number formatting and word forms, including “5year work” and “private employers” where “private companies” would be clearer. Aim for concise, standard collocations for describing proportions and income bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and verb forms appear in examples such as “graduates what perform work” and “8% graduates not performed any work.” Subject–verb agreement and articles are also problematic in “the tables shows” and “the least percentage of Graduates.” Several sentences in the salary paragraph run together, with punctuation that does not clearly separate complete ideas; this makes the comparisons harder to interpret. The overall meaning is often recoverable, but these frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. Build accuracy first with clear subject–verb patterns, then connect related information using correctly punctuated clauses.
