Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 2.5

The response makes a limited attempt to describe the charts, but it does not adequately cover the task. It misidentifies the pie chart as showing graduates’ salaries, although it shows their destinations after graduation, and the salary table is left unfinished. Some figures are also misreported: full-time work is 52%, not “one and half” candidates, and the 8% “not known” group is not identical to full-time work. The statement about a “negligible difference” between part-time work and unemployment is unclear and does not accurately describe their 15% and 12% shares. The response is also 89 words below the required minimum, leaving the main features and comparisons largely undeveloped. To improve, accurately identify both visuals, give a clear overview, and report key figures from each.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to sequence information: the response first refers to the destination chart and then begins a sentence about salaries. However, the second part stops mid-word, so there is no completed discussion of the table or a clear progression through the task. The ideas within the first paragraph are difficult to follow, particularly “one and half candidates” and “their are negligible difference,” and the links between the figures are not made explicit. “Moreover” provides a simple connection, but it does not resolve the unclear relationship between the preceding statements. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table, and connect comparisons with clear references such as “by contrast” or “the largest proportion”.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small set of task-related terms, including “full time work,” “part time worker,” and “salaries,” so the topic is partly recognisable. However, vocabulary is limited and several spelling and word-choice problems make the meaning unclear: “graducates,” “digree,” “respectivly,” and “antrhropology” are inaccurate, while “one and half candidates” is not an appropriate way to describe a percentage. “Pie chart” is also used for the salary information even though the task presents it in a table. Build a more accurate range of chart language, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “salary band,” and “employment sector,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and a longer sentence beginning “After analyzing the pie chart,” but grammatical control is inconsistent. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “The pie chart depict” and “The pie chart illustrate,” missing or incorrect articles in “one and half candidates,” and faulty sentence construction in “their are negligible difference.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “pie chart,It” and the lower-case “their.” The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “antrhropology studen,” which prevents the idea from being expressed. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, accurate singular/plural agreement, and consistent punctuation; for example, “Full-time work was the most common destination, at 52%.”
