Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies the main destination figures accurately: full-time work is largest at 52%, and part-time work combined with postgraduate study is smallest at 5%. It also reports the 15%, 12% and two 8% categories correctly. However, the task includes both a pie chart and a salary table, and the response entirely omits the table and makes no comparisons between employment sectors or salary bands. This leaves a major part of the task unaddressed. The overview is also limited to ranking the destination categories, with some repetition rather than a fuller summary of the key information. To improve, cover both visuals and highlight a salient salary comparison, such as the government sector’s 50% in the highest band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic structure: an opening sentence, an overview, and paragraphs beginning with “Firstly” and “Furthermore.” The destination figures are generally presented in a sensible order, so the reader can follow the main points. However, progression is weakened by repetition: the final sentence restates that full-time work is highest and part-time study is lowest, already stated earlier. Linking words such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “While” are used mechanically, and “While” does not introduce a complete contrast. The response also lacks a paragraph or transition for the salary table, which contributes to an incomplete overall organisation. Grouping related figures once and using a separate paragraph for salary comparisons would make the structure clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “accounted for,” “proportion,” “share,” and “destination,” and the reader can usually understand the intended comparisons. However, the range is limited and several phrases are awkward or imprecise, such as “destination of Anthropology,” “overall career,” and “unemployed factor.” Repetition of “highest,” “lowest,” and “share” also restricts flexibility. There are spelling errors in “fuul,” “proporton,” and “umemployed,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise chart language and natural collocations—for example, refer to “the destinations of anthropology graduates” and “the proportion who were unemployed.” Avoid using “factor” when describing a category in a chart.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes simple statements and some attempts to combine ideas, and most figures remain understandable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent. For example, “The pie chart compares destination of Anthropology in terms of their shares of graduate” has problems with articles, number, and sentence construction. “It is 15 percent of the overall destination” uses an unclear reference, while “It's shares about 5 percent” has an incorrect possessive form and an incomplete verb pattern. The final sentence beginning “While after analysing…” is also not a complete, well-formed sentence. Use straightforward, complete structures such as “Part-time work accounted for 15% of graduates” and check articles, plural forms, and sentence boundaries.
