Student answer (Band 6.5)

The pie chart illustrate the destinations of Anthropology graduates after graduation while the table demonstrates the average income of Anthropology graduates in three different sectors after five years of work experience.

Overall, most graduates prefered enrolling themself into full time job. In addition to that, graduates wroking in government sectors earned most amount of income after 5 years.

Looking at the proportion in greater details, more than half of the students prefered doing a full time work, despite that, least amount of students enrolled themself into part time work followed by a postgrad study. 15% of scholars started part time work while there is no data available for almost 8% of individuals. In addition to that, 12% of students remained unemployed.

Meanwhile, half of the students serving in Government firms had salaries above $100k, while people working in private sectors had least amount of income after 5 years with only 30% getting above $100k. On the other hand, 40% of students working as Freelance consultants had salary from $75k to $100k, in addition, same proportion of graduates had salary above $100k.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main destination clearly: full-time work accounts for the largest share, and you note that 12% were unemployed and 8% were not known. Your overview also highlights the government sector’s high salaries, and the figures you give for the top salary band and freelance consultants are accurate. However, some comparisons are incomplete or imprecise. Part-time work (15%), rather than part-time work plus postgraduate study (5%), is the smallest destination category; your wording makes this distinction unclear. The table discussion omits the substantial private-company share earning $50,000–$74,999 (35%) and does not compare the salary distributions across all three sectors. A fuller overview and more balanced selection of key figures would make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on graduate destinations, and a final paragraph on salaries. This makes the two visual elements easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “Overall” and “Meanwhile” help signal shifts in focus. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “Despite that” does not express the relationship between the largest and smallest destination categories, while “In addition to that” is repeated without always adding a distinct point. The sentence about “least amount of students” followed by postgraduate study is also difficult to interpret. Use more precise comparisons and organise each paragraph around a clear main feature, with supporting figures grouped logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use relevant vocabulary for describing the visuals, including “proportion,” “unemployed,” “Government firms,” and “Freelance consultants.” There is also some attempt at less common phrasing, such as “serving in Government firms.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: graduates do not “prefer” a destination in the sense implied here, and “enrolled themself into full time job” is not an appropriate expression. “Average income” is also misleading because the table gives salary bands, not averages. Spelling errors such as “prefered” and “wroking,” along with inconsistent forms such as “postgrad,” reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in “while people working in private sectors…” and a relative construction in “graduates in work after five years.” Most of the meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The pie chart illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, and “graduates … enrolling themself” has problems with the verb pattern and pronoun agreement. Articles and number are also inconsistent in phrases such as “a full time work” and “least amount of students.” Some sentences are long and joined with commas, particularly the final sentence, which would be clearer if divided or punctuated more carefully. Greater control of agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries would improve accuracy.
