Student answer (Band 6.5)
The pie chart and table illustrates what Anthropology students who graduates from same university did after compeleting their undergraduate degree course. However, the table shows the annual income of the anthropologists after working for five years.
Overall, Full-time work was by far the most common destination, and the highest salary band was most common in government sector.
Just over half of graduates 52% enrolled with a full-time employment. The next largest groups were enrolled in part-time work 15% and 12% remain umemployed. Full-time postgrad study and unknown each accounted at 8%, whereas only 5% combined part-time work with postgraduate study.
On the another hand, the table shows the annual incomes of three type of employment which includes freelancer, governement emloyees and private companies. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both visuals and gives a clear overview: full-time work is correctly identified as the largest destination, while government employment has the greatest proportion in the top salary band. The main figures are generally accurate, including the 52% in full-time work and the salary comparisons across sectors. You also select useful details, such as the 35% peak for private-company salaries in the $50,000–74,999 band. To make the report more fully developed, include the omitted 10% figure for private-company employees in the lowest band and complete the final comparison: the response ends after noting that 5% of freelancers and government workers earned the lowest salary. Avoid describing graduates as “enrolled” in employment, which slightly blurs the data.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on graduate destinations, and a paragraph comparing salaries. The progression from the largest destination groups to salary patterns is easy to follow, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “however,” and “By contrast” help signal relationships. This is a coherent arrangement, but cohesion is not consistently smooth. “On the another hand” is an awkward transition, and “Looking after the table” does not clearly introduce the comparison. The final sentence is also incomplete, leaving the lowest salary comparison unfinished. Use straightforward transitions such as “Turning to the salary table” and ensure each paragraph ends with a complete, connected point.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
There is an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “destination,” “annual income,” “salary band,” “freelance consultants,” and “accounted for.” These choices help communicate the main comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural: graduates did not “enroll with” employment, “led to” is unsuitable for describing the largest share, and “three type of employment” is imprecise. Spelling errors such as “compeleting,” “umemployed,” “governement,” and “emloyees” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise reporting verbs and standard collocations, and proofread spelling carefully. This would make the vocabulary more flexible and natural without requiring unnecessarily complex wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response attempts a mix of simple and more complex structures, including the overview sentence with “and” and the contrast introduced by “whereas.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. The opening has subject–verb and relative-clause problems: “The pie chart and table illustrates” and “students who graduates.” Articles and prepositions are also inaccurate in phrases such as “from same university,” “accounted at 8%,” and “On the another hand.” There are number-agreement issues in “three type,” and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise accurate agreement, articles, and prepositional patterns, then check that every sentence has a complete main clause. More reliable control of these basics will support the complex structures you are attempting.
