Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both the graduate destinations and the salary table, and several figures are reported accurately, including full-time work at 52%, unemployment at 12%, and the government-sector share earning $100,000 or more at 50%. However, the overview is unclear and sometimes describes changes over time, although the chart shows destinations at one point rather than a trend. Some details are also misreported: full-time postgraduate study is 8%, but you assign this figure to “Full time work + postgrad study”; the latter is 5%. The salary figures are mostly included, but the salary bands are written unclearly and one range appears as “$500000-7499.” State the main contrasts clearly, then support them with accurately labelled figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response includes information from both visuals, but the ideas are not arranged in a clear progression. The opening is followed by a long overview-like passage that repeats claims such as full-time work reaching 52% and part-time study falling to 5%, before the salary information begins. Connectors such as “Moreover,” “while,” and “On the other side” are used repeatedly, sometimes without showing a clear relationship between the figures. The salary section also moves through the income bands in a crowded sequence, making comparisons difficult to follow. Use separate paragraphs for destinations and salaries, and organise each around the most important comparisons rather than listing figures in one extended passage.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “destination,” “unemployed,” “freelance consultants,” and “government sector,” so the reader can identify the subject of most comparisons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to interpret. For example, “destination … are changed” suggests a change over time, and “significantly drop in to” is not a natural way to describe a proportion in a static chart. “Privates companies” is also an incorrect form. Aim for precise reporting language such as “accounted for,” “stood at,” and “the proportion earning,” and use the chart’s category labels consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to combine ideas using clauses and contrast markers, but sentence structures are often faulty, and errors frequently make relationships between figures harder to understand. The opening, “This chart illustrate that which destination … are,” has problems with subject–verb agreement and clause structure. Agreement and verb forms are also inconsistent in “part-time work are” and “full-time work significantly increased,” while the latter additionally uses a change verb for a chart that does not show a time series. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are unreliable, particularly in the long salary passage. Practise accurate simple comparison sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking agreement, articles, and punctuation.
