Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the graduate destinations and the salary table, and the overview identifies the dominant outcome—full-time work at 52%—as well as the smallest destination category at 5%. You also make relevant comparisons between government employment and freelance consulting. Some details, however, are inaccurate or incomplete: freelance consultants earning $75,000–99,999 account for 40%, not 10%, and the 15% in the $50,000–74,999 band is omitted. The private-company figures are only partly reported, and “received $100,000 more” is unclear. The overview’s claim that government salaries are highest is broadly supported, but could be more precise by noting that government has the largest $100,000+ share. More accurate and balanced coverage would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the pie chart and salary table. This makes the two visual elements easy to distinguish, and sequencing within the destination paragraph is generally understandable. Cohesive phrases such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “Finally” help guide the reader. However, some links are mechanical or awkward, particularly the sentence beginning “Followed closely by graduates…”; it is not a complete sentence and its connection to the preceding point is unclear. The salary paragraph also moves through categories without consistently comparing the same income bands. Use complete transitions and organise each comparison around a clear pattern, such as highest salary bands first.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “destination,” “proportion,” “graduates,” and “salary,” and terms such as “full-time” and “postgrad study” help identify categories. There is some attempt at varied reporting language, for example “recorded at” and “occupied by.” However, several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “yers,” “recive,” “Frulance,” “puple,” and “part-lime.” Some collocations are also unnatural, including “work full work,” “received more than” for salary bands, and “the other 10% acquired.” Prefer precise, conventional expressions such as “worked full time,” “earned,” and “accounted for.” More accurate spelling and natural collocations would make the information easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast clause with “whereas” and a longer comparison beginning “while.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable. However, some sentence structures are incomplete or awkward: “Followed closely by graduates…” is a fragment, and “In pie chart” lacks an article. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, such as “majority of the graduates work full work” and “30% of the private companies received $100,000 more.” Tense use shifts between past and present when describing the chart, and punctuation around the salary ranges is inconsistent. Build complete sentences, use a consistent tense for reporting the data, and check articles and agreement.
