Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main destination, correctly reporting that full-time work was the largest category at 52%, and you include some salary information about freelance consultants. However, the response covers the task only partially: it omits the salary distributions for government and private-sector employees, and gives little comparison across the table. The overview claim that most government employees received the maximum salary is accurate, but saying private-sector employees received the minimum salary is misleading: only 10% were in the lowest band, while 35% earned $50,000–$74,999. The destination figures for postgraduate study are also confused. The response is 126 words, below the required 150, which further limits the detail available. Include a fuller overview and select key comparisons from both visuals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and details about destinations and freelance salaries. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is limited because the salary discussion stops after one employment type, leaving the table’s other categories unintegrated. Some linking is also awkward or inaccurate: “On the other hand” does not clearly signal the relationship between the destination figures, and punctuation around it disrupts the sentence. Group the destination data together, then compare the three salary sectors in a separate paragraph, using clear links such as “By contrast” or “Similarly” only where the data supports them.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “graduates,” “undergraduate degree,” “unemployment,” and “maximum salary,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce clarity: “Anthropolgy,” “studens,” “saleries,” “garduates,” and “consultents.” “Maximum salary” and “minimum salary” are also imprecise when describing salary bands; “highest income band” and “lowest income band” would be clearer. The phrase “post graduate study with full time work” does not accurately name the chart categories. Check spelling carefully and use the chart’s exact labels, such as “part-time work alongside postgraduate study” and “full-time postgraduate study,” to make comparisons more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of sentence forms, including a complex opening with “while” and a comparison beginning “Most of the graduates… while…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “the table illustrates the salaries … after five years of work” is understandable, but “while, the table” has incorrect punctuation; “post graduate study with full time work was stood for 5 percent” has a faulty verb construction; and “accounted for8 percent” lacks spacing and clear sentence control. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries. Aim first for accurate simple comparisons, then add subordinate clauses. Review comma placement around “while,” and use forms such as “accounted for 5%” or “stood at 5%.”
