Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two visuals and report several figures accurately, including 52% in full-time work, 15% in part-time work, and 12% unemployed. However, the response only partially fulfils the task because it lacks a clear overview of the main patterns and leaves out the 8% whose destination was not known. More importantly, the table is misinterpreted: salaries did not “increase” by 40%, 50%, or 30%; these are the proportions of workers in the $100,000+ salary band. The comparison that government employment has the largest share in this band is relevant, but the claim of a “gradual decreased” in private-sector salaries is unsupported. Summarise the overall destination pattern and compare salary distributions across all three sectors accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it first describes the pie chart and then moves to the salary table, with separate paragraphs helping the reader distinguish the two visuals. Basic linking phrases such as “According to the pie chart” and “The given table” also make the topic shifts clear. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The opening sentence is overloaded, and the table paragraph moves from freelance salaries to government and private companies without clearly stating what the percentages represent. Some references, such as “which was 8%,” require the reader to infer the category. Use a concise overview and organise comparisons by salary band or employment type to make the relationships clearer.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “unemployed,” “freelance consultants,” and “government sector,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes obscuring the data. For example, “their salaries were increased by 40%” incorrectly describes a salary-band share as a change over time, while “the salaries … were increased of 30%” is also unnatural. Spelling errors such as “studnets,” “Anthroplogy,” and “considerbly” are noticeable. Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “fell into the salary band,” and “the proportion earning,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the response is usually understandable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in longer sentences. In “The percentage of students who studied and also done part time work,” the verb form is incorrect; “who studied and also did part-time work” would be grammatical. The sentence beginning “Freelance is the type of employment overall in last 5 years” has an unclear structure and missing grammatical elements, while “there was a gradual decreased” uses the wrong form after the article. Articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences around each figure, then add comparisons using accurate clauses and punctuation.
