Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main destination accurately: full-time work was the largest category at 52%, and you correctly note that full-time postgraduate study and “not known” were both 8%. However, the response is incomplete and does not report the table’s salary figures or compare the employment sectors. The claim that government work paid the highest amounts and private companies the smallest salaries is too broad: for example, 50% of government employees earned $100,000 or more, while private-company salaries were spread across the bands, with 35% earning $50,000–74,999. The overview also calls the 8% categories the smallest without mentioning that part-time work plus postgraduate study was lower, at 5%. The response is 104 words, below the 150-word minimum, which limits coverage of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an introduction is followed by an overview and then a sentence describing the pie chart. This gives the reader some sense of the intended structure. However, the response ends before the table is discussed, so there is no progression through both visuals or a complete comparison. Connections between ideas are also weak: “Other category also play significant role” is vague, and “followed by this part time work” does not clearly link the figures or explain their order. The overview combines several points in a long sentence, making the comparison difficult to follow. Use separate, purposeful paragraphs for the overview and the key details from each visual, with clear links between comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “accounted for,” “category,” and “salaries,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors reduce precision: “paid attractiive highest amount” and “paid smallest salaries” are awkward, while “Antropology,” “goverment,” and “campanies” are misspelled. “Smalllest category” is also an inaccurate form. Aim for accurate terms such as “highest salary band,” “lowest-paid group,” and “graduates’ destinations.” Check spelling carefully and avoid repeating “category” when more precise descriptions such as “proportion” or “share” would make the data clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes simple statements and an attempt at a more complex overview, beginning with “Overall, it is clear that…”. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. For example, “The table compare” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “Other category also play” has the same problem. The overview sentence runs several ideas together without clear punctuation, while the final sentence is incomplete in its comparison and ends without a full stop. There are also inconsistent spaces around punctuation. Practise accurate agreement and build complete sentences that report one comparison at a time; then check sentence boundaries and punctuation.
