Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the chart’s subject and give one accurate key figure: 52% entered full-time work, the largest destination group. However, the response addresses the task only minimally. The overview’s claim about freelance consultants earning in the $75,000–$99,999 and $100,000+ bands is broadly supported, but it does not compare the employment categories clearly. The detail that part-time work accounts for “15 percent to 40 percent” is inaccurate: 15% is the part-time-work share, while 40% is not a destination figure. The government-sector comment is vague, and the table description is left unfinished. The response is also 47 words below the required minimum. To improve, report the main destination figures and compare salary distributions across the three sectors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response makes an attempt to separate an introduction, overview and details, which gives the reader some signposting. The opening also distinguishes the pie chart from the salary table. However, the progression is incomplete: after the overview, the discussion moves to a confused pie-chart statement, then a brief government-sector comment, and ends with the unfinished phrase “the table shows that the”. Connections between ideas are limited, and labels such as “Government sector” and “Table Chart Detail” do not develop into coherent paragraphs. Organise the response into a clear introduction, an overview of the main patterns, and two detail paragraphs. Use linking phrases to make comparisons explicit, and ensure each paragraph contains complete, logically connected information.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “graduates,” “full time work,” “unemployed,” “freelance consultants,” and “government sector,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors make the writing harder to read, for example “distinations,” “Universty,” “silaries,” and “consaltants.” Some wording is also imprecise: “government sectors also want that to employ more” does not clearly describe what the table shows, and “part time work account for 15 percent to 40 percent graduates” is difficult to interpret. Build a more accurate set of chart-reporting expressions, such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “the salary band,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts at basic sentence forms, including “The pie chart shows…” and “the table shows…,” but grammatical control is inconsistent. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are often missing, as in “over all full time work wascommon distination for graduates. In terms salaries…”. There are also problems with articles and sentence construction in “making it largest group” and “part time work account for 15 percent to 40 percent graduates.” The final clause, “the table shows that the,” is incomplete. Most sentences rely on simple patterns, with little accurate variety. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, use articles where needed (“the largest group”), and check agreement and punctuation. Then combine related comparisons using controlled complex sentences.
