Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both the graduate destinations and the salary table, and your overview identifies full-time work as the largest destination and government and freelance roles as the higher-paying sectors. Several figures are accurately selected, including 52%, 15%, 12%, and the government-sector shares of 50% and 30%. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: “35% ... between $35,000 and $74,999” should refer to the $50,000–$74,999 band, while private-company salaries also include 10% in the lowest band and 25% in the $75,000–$99,999 band. The freelance figures are not fully reported, and “received $100,000” should be expressed as the 40% earning $100,000 or more. More precise comparisons would make the coverage more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for destinations and salaries. This makes the two visual elements easy to follow, and transitions such as “Firstly” and “Regarding salary” signal the shift in focus. The overview also attempts to connect the main patterns across the charts. However, some links are awkward or unclear, particularly the overview sentence beginning “whereas only a small proportion...” and continuing with “after five years anthropologist working...”. The salary paragraph moves between sectors without consistently comparing the same income bands, which weakens progression. Use clearer topic sentences and parallel comparisons—for example, compare the proportions earning $100,000 or more across all three employment types.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of task vocabulary, including “destination,” “unemployment rate,” “pursued,” “received,” and “in contrast.” These choices help communicate the chart’s categories and comparisons, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural collocations and word forms, such as “combine part-time work,” “high paying salaries job,” and “government employs.” “Covered full time work” is also not a natural way to describe graduates entering employment. Some repetition of “received” and “percentage” limits flexibility. Aim for precise reporting phrases such as “worked part-time while studying,” “higher-paid roles,” and “accounted for,” while checking that salary-band labels are reproduced exactly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “while” and a comparison introduced by “In contrast.” The main information is usually recoverable, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “the majority of graduates entered...” is followed by the faulty construction “whereas only a small proportion of combine...”; the overview also lacks a clear grammatical structure in “after five years anthropologist working...”. Other issues include missing articles and agreement, as in “the half of the graduates” and “35% employs achieved,” as well as tense inconsistency between “earn” and “received.” Build shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and tense consistency.
