Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover both the graduates’ destinations and the salary table, and several figures are reported accurately, including 52% in full-time work, 12% unemployed, and the salary distributions for freelance consultants. You also identify the main destination as full-time employment. However, the response is only partially developed: it lacks a clear, separate overview of the most important salary pattern, and the figures are sometimes inaccurate. For example, private-company salaries in the $75,000–99,999 range are 25%, not 35%, and the top government salary category is $100,000+, not “10,000+.” The comment that part-time work may support students’ families is speculation rather than chart information. Focus on accurate comparisons and summarise the key patterns without adding explanations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response follows the broad order of the visuals, discussing graduate destinations before salaries, so the reader can identify the two topics. However, ideas are crowded into one continuous paragraph, with no clear introduction, overview, or organised detail sections. The repeated use of “some students” and “and” makes the progression feel list-like, while full stops and spacing are inconsistent. For instance, the salary information shifts rapidly from freelance consultants to government and private companies without clear grouping. Use separate paragraphs for the destinations and salary table, and add a concise overview before the detailed figures. Linking expressions should show meaningful comparisons rather than simply joining one statistic to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary such as “undergraduate degree,” “postgraduate study,” “unemployed,” and “salary,” which makes the subject generally clear. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, including “full-time work jobs,” “started part-time work,” and “having” when describing salary bands. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “goverment” and “freelace,” and inconsistent forms such as “partime.” These issues reduce precision, particularly in a report that depends on clear category labels. Aim for concise chart language, such as “were employed,” “earned,” and “accounted for,” and check spelling and hyphenation before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts some longer sentences and uses basic present-tense forms to report the data, but sentence structures are limited and errors occur frequently. Examples include “Some students prefers,” where the subject and verb do not agree, and “They are about 52% students,” which has an unclear grammatical construction. Several sentence boundaries are also faulty: “So that most of the students prefer…” is an incomplete sentence, while “.and 50% have…” begins a new sentence incorrectly. Articles and plural forms are also inconsistent. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple reporting sentences first, then combine related comparisons using controlled clauses and consistent punctuation.
