Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparison where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart illustrates what Anthropology graduates from a univeristy did after completing their undergraduate degree course, while the table compares the anthropologists salaries after five years.
Overall, the highest proportion of destination of Anthropology graduates is covered by Full-time workers, whereas the salaries varied across different employment sectors.
Looking first at the destination of Anthropology graduates, 52% of the graduates got full-time work, the highest among all categories. Following this, part-time work employed the 15% of the Anthrology graduates from a particular university. Unfortunetly, there were 12% graduates who were unemployed, while both full-time postgrad study and not known category covered 8% of the graduates, respectively. The remaining 5% were the combination of part-time work and postgrad study destinations.
Turning to the salaries of Antrhopology graduates, the highest percentage of all sectors earned more than $100,000 , while the least salary that all sectors earned ranged from $25000 to $49,999. Moving forward, only 15% freelance consultants and the government sector earned $50,000 to $74,999, and 35% of the graduates working at a private company took the salary in between $50,000 and $74,999. However, 40% freelance consultants, 30% government employes, and 25% private companies workers earned somewhere in between $75,000 and $99,999, respectively.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main destination clearly: full-time work is the largest category at 52%, and you report most of the other destination figures accurately. The response also attempts to compare salary bands across employment sectors. However, the salary overview is too broad and partly inaccurate: the highest salary band is not the largest in every sector, since private companies have 30% there compared with 35% in the $50,000–$74,999 band. The statement that the lowest salary band is the least common across all sectors is also not true for private companies, where it is 10% and the $75,000–$99,999 band is 25%. You omit the key 50% figure for government employees earning $100,000 or more. Select and compare the main salary patterns more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised into a clear introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two visuals. The progression from graduate destinations to salaries is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Looking first” and “Turning to” help the reader navigate the report. Within the salary paragraph, however, the comparisons are not fully developed: the discussion moves from the lowest and middle bands to the $75,000–$99,999 band without completing the comparison of the highest band, leaving the account feeling unfinished. “Moving forward” is also not a natural transition for presenting chart data. Grouping the salary figures by meaningful patterns—for example, comparing the two sectors with the largest $100,000+ shares—would make the progression more purposeful and cohesive.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “destination,” “sectors,” and “earned,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are attempts at more formal reporting language, but some choices are inaccurate or awkward: “the highest proportion of destination … is covered by” and “the combination of … destinations” do not express the data naturally. Several spelling errors, including “univeristy,” “Anthrology,” “Unfortunetly,” and “Antrhopology,” reduce accuracy. “Took the salary” is also an unsuitable collocation for describing income. Aim for precise chart language such as “accounted for,” “represented,” and “fell into the salary band,” and proofread spelling carefully. This would make the vocabulary more controlled and appropriate to an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “while the table compares…” and the relative clause in “graduates who were unemployed.” Most sentences communicate the intended information, but some grammatical choices are inaccurate. For example, “the highest proportion of destination … is covered by Full-time workers” has an awkward and unclear structure, while “employed the 15%” uses an unnecessary article and an unsuitable construction. In “only 15% freelance consultants and the government sector earned,” the subjects and verb do not form a clear grammatical relationship. Punctuation is also inconsistent, including the space before the comma in “$100,000 ,”. Practise accurate percentage constructions, such as “15% of graduates worked part-time,” and check articles, agreement, and punctuation.
