Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the main destination, full-time work at 52%, and note that government-sector employees have the largest share in the top salary band. However, the response only partially reports the visual information and contains important inaccuracies: the government figure is 50%, not 52%, and the table gives percentages across four salary bands, not one overall salary percentage for each sector. The chart description also repeats unemployment and does not clearly distinguish the 8% in full-time postgraduate study from the 8% whose destination is unknown. There is no clear overview comparing the main patterns in both visuals. To improve, summarise the key contrasts accurately—for example, full-time work is the most common destination, while government employees are most likely to earn $100,000 or more—and support these points with selected figures from the table.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some basic organisation: it introduces the visuals, then discusses graduate destinations and salaries in separate sections. This gives the reader a general sense of the two topics. However, progression is limited, and the ideas within the chart paragraph are difficult to follow. For instance, “second is part-time and unemployed” combines two separate categories, while “At last there is unemployed and unknown” repeats unemployment rather than moving clearly through the remaining data. Linking phrases such as “first,” “second,” and “at last” are used mechanically and do not clarify the comparisons. A clearer structure would use an overview followed by one paragraph on destinations and one on salary patterns, with accurate references such as “by contrast” or “whereas” to connect the main differences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time work,” “part-time,” “postgrad study,” “government sector,” and “freelance consultants,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the data difficult to interpret. “Highest ratio” is not a natural way to describe the largest share, and “the table describe the salaries” does not precisely express what the table presents. There are also spelling errors in “universty,” “anthrologists,” and “antrhropologists.” Aim for precise terms such as “proportion,” “salary band,” and “employment sector,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating “contains” and “ratio”; varied, accurate vocabulary will make comparisons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its general subject through mostly simple sentence patterns, and it attempts some longer constructions, such as “The chart shows the destination of anthrologists, first one is full-time work…”. However, these longer sentences are often poorly controlled, and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “the table describe” instead of “the table describes,” “government sector contain” instead of “the government sector contains,” and “which have same ratio” instead of “which have the same proportion.” Articles are often missing, and punctuation is inconsistent, including spaces before full stops and a missing space after the comma in “50%,freelance.” Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Shorter, correctly punctuated comparisons would be more effective than joining several categories in one sentence.
