Student answer (Band 6.0)

The diagram compares the proportion of undergraduate Anthropology students from one university decided as their career from five different categories, while the table illustrates the salary of graduates from three group of employment after five years of work.

Overall, full-time work was the most undergraduates final destination, while full-time postgraduate study had the smallest share. However, after graduation goverment sector paid the largest ammount of salary.

Looking at the diagram, more than half of undergraduate students started to work full-time jobs, accounted for 52%. Part-time work and unemployment had the share of 15% and 12% students respectively. However, 5% of the total students are doing both part-time job and postgraduation study.

Looking at the table, after 5 years of work only 5% graduates had 25,000 to 49,000 dollar salary at freelance consultants and goverment sector, while private companies had 10% respectively. Almost 40% freelance consulants accounted for $75,000-$99,999 salary and other 40% for $100,000. Meanwhile, 50% graduates earned 100,000 dollars in goverment sector and 30% in private companies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main destination pattern accurately: full-time work is highest at 52%, and you report the 15% in part-time work and 12% unemployed. The overview also attempts to compare the two visuals. However, it contains a key misreading: full-time postgraduate study is not the smallest category (8%); part-time work combined with postgraduate study is lowest at 5%. The salary overview is also unclear: the table shows salary distributions within each employment type, rather than proving that the government sector “paid the largest amount.” You include some useful salary figures, but omit the 15% and 35% in the $50,000–$74,999 band and the government sector’s 30% in the $75,000–$99,999 band. Select and compare the main patterns more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the chart and table. This makes the two sources easy to distinguish, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Looking at the diagram,” and “Meanwhile” help guide the reader. The progression is generally logical, supporting this level of organisation. To make the cohesion more flexible and precise, avoid using “However” where there is no clear contrast, as in the sentence about the 5% combining part-time work and postgraduate study. Some references are also vague: “other 40%” does not clearly identify the salary band, and “respectively” is not needed in the private-company comparison. Group related salary bands together to create clearer comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “destination,” “salary,” “freelance consultants,” and “government sector.” These terms help communicate the chart and table, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are, however, several inaccurate or awkward choices that reduce precision: “decided as their career” does not naturally describe post-graduation destinations, while “had the share” and “accounted for” are used in ways that make the data descriptions less fluent. Spelling errors such as “goverment,” “ammount,” and “consulants” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural reporting collocations such as “accounted for,” “made up,” and “earned,” and use consistent, accurate spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “graduates from three group of employment after five years of work” and a contrast introduced by “while.” Most of the intended meaning can be followed, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “students … decided as their career” has an incorrect verb construction, and “the most undergraduates final destination” has faulty word order and possessive structure. There are also agreement and number errors in “three group” and “5% … are doing,” where the description of past graduate outcomes should be expressed consistently. Practise accurate noun phrases and past-tense reporting patterns, such as “the most common destination was” and “5% pursued.”
