Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You cover both the graduate destinations and the five-year salary table, and you identify the main destination correctly: full-time work accounts for 52%, the largest share. However, the response has no clear overview drawing out the key patterns across both visuals. Some figures are also misreported: in private companies, 35% earn $50,000–$74,999, not $25,000–$49,999; the later claim that 25% earn $50,000–$74,999 is also incorrect. The descriptions of the two postgraduate categories are not fully accurate either: 8% pursued full-time postgraduate study, rather than full-time work plus study. Select the most important comparisons and summarise them clearly before giving supporting figures; this would make the response address the task more completely and accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is arranged in a generally understandable order: it introduces the pie chart, reports its figures, and then moves through the three employment sectors in the table. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, the opening repeats the chart’s categories rather than providing an overview, and the table discussion becomes a sequence of figures with limited comparison between sectors. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand” and “additionally” are sometimes used mechanically or where no contrast is needed. Group related salary bands and compare the sectors directly—for example, noting that government employment has the largest $100,000+ share—so the progression is clearer and cohesion feels less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “full-time work,” “unemployed,” “freelance consultant,” and “government sector,” so the subject is usually clear. However, the range is limited and several expressions are awkward or imprecise, such as “in 5 year time line,” “do jobs in part time,” and “one lac plus dollars.” Repetition of “earn,” “percent,” and “while” also makes the account less flexible. Use standard salary and employment collocations, such as “after five years of employment,” “worked part-time,” and “earned more than $100,000.” Take care to distinguish salary bands accurately when describing them; precise vocabulary is especially important when reporting numerical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic connectors to relate figures, but most sentence patterns are simple or joined by repeated “while,” and errors occur frequently. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in phrases such as “52 percent of the graduate do jobs” and “15 percent earns.” Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention: “The table illustrate” should be “The table illustrates,” and several sentences begin with a lower-case word after a full stop or contain comma splices. These errors sometimes make the relationships between figures harder to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine comparisons using controlled clauses, with consistent punctuation and agreement.
