Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main destination pattern accurately: full-time work is the largest category at 52%, while combining part-time work with postgraduate study is the smallest at 5%. You also include the key salary groups and note that government employees are most likely to earn $100,000 or more. However, the salary comparison is less fully reported and contains a significant misreading: freelance consultants and government employees each have 5% in the $25,000–49,999 band, not in a combined $25,000–75,000 bracket. The private-company figures are also unclear; the table shows 10%, 35%, 25% and 30% across the four bands. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on graduate destinations and a final paragraph on salaries. Sequencing is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “Whereas” help signal movement between points. This organisation meets the task’s needs, but the salary paragraph’s comparisons are difficult to track because several figures and income bands are compressed into long, unclear statements. For example, “The salaries that anthropology students gets $25000-$75000 bracket…” does not clearly show which percentages belong to which bands. Use one sentence per employment sector or group related bands together, and make comparisons explicit to improve progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of task-related vocabulary, including “full time work,” “postgrad study,” “unemployed,” “salaries” and “employment sectors.” Terms such as “major portion” and “renumeration” show an attempt to vary your wording, although some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. There are also spelling errors, including “porportion” and “goverment,” and phrases such as “passed out students” and “get into full time work” are not natural in this context. These do not prevent the reader from understanding the main message, but they reduce precision. Aim for standard chart-reporting collocations and use the same clear terms for categories and salary bands throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement and verb forms make parts of the report unclear. For example, “The pie chart illustrates regarding students … do” has an incomplete construction; “the salaries that anthropology students gets” has subject–verb disagreement; and “The proportion of private companies provides” uses an unsuitable sentence structure. Articles and plural forms also need attention, as in “for student who not known.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and tense. More accurate control of these patterns would make your comparisons easier to understand.
