Student answer (Band 5.0)
The diagram below illustrates what anthropology graduates from one university did after completing their undergraduates degree course. The table represent the salaries of the authropologists in employment after five years.
First of all, the chart shows the designation of authropology graduates from one university. The ratio of individuals who do full time job is higher than other designations and more than 50%. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two visuals and report some relevant features, including that full-time work is the largest destination and that government-sector salaries are concentrated in the highest band. However, the response only partially summarises the data: most destination categories are mentioned without their figures, and the salary discussion gives no salary-band percentages. The claim that freelance consultants’ salaries “increases day by day” is not shown by this table, which compares salary distributions across employment types rather than changes over time. A clearer overview should state the main contrasts, such as 52% in full-time work and the high proportions earning $100,000 or more in government and freelance roles. Support each comparison with accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall arrangement: an introduction is followed by one paragraph on graduate destinations and another on salaries. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “Secondly” help signal the shift between visuals. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and the repeated references to “some” categories make the account feel like a list rather than a comparison. The salary paragraph is especially difficult to follow because it moves between freelance, government and private employment without clearly comparing their salary bands. Organise the details around key contrasts, and use linking expressions to show those relationships—for example, contrast the government and freelance shares in the top salary band with the private-company distribution.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “graduates,” “full-time,” “part-time,” “postgrad study” and “employment,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “designation” for graduates’ destinations, “in average quantity,” and “first salery.” Spelling errors including “authropology,” “quqntity” and “compnies” also reduce clarity. Phrases such as “this habit is good for them to survive easily” are informal and do not describe the chart objectively. Build a more precise reporting vocabulary, using terms such as “proportion,” “category,” “salary band” and “accounted for,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the opening sentences communicate the purpose of the visuals. However, the range is limited, and errors recur in sentence structure and agreement. For example, “The table represent” needs a singular verb, while “There are various type of employment” needs a plural noun. The sentence beginning “Some individuals also run their postgrad study…” is awkwardly constructed, and “their salaries increases” has a subject–verb agreement error. Some sentences also join several ideas without clear grammatical control, making the meaning harder to follow. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then add subordinate clauses, checking verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
