Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main destination, full-time work, as the largest category and report several other figures, including part-time work at 15% and unemployment at 12%. You also attempt to cover the salary table, so both visuals are addressed. However, the account is only partial: the 8% in full-time postgraduate study is omitted, and the salary comparisons are unclear or inaccurate. For example, the private-company starting figure is given as 10% in the $50,000–$74,999 band, whereas it is 10% in the $25,000–$49,999 band. The overview also does not clearly summarise the salary pattern. Select the key contrasts and report each salary band accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about graduate destinations and then salaries. Some sequencing is clear, particularly the list of destination figures. However, progression becomes difficult to follow in the final paragraph, where several salary bands, sectors and time references are combined in one long sentence. Connectors such as “In contrast” and “Although” do not always show a clear relationship between the information that follows. The overview also repeats details rather than establishing a concise comparison between the two visuals. Use separate, focused paragraphs for destinations and salaries, and group salary figures by sector or income band to make the comparisons easier to track.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “unemployed,” “freelance consultants,” “Government sector” and “private companies,” and you attempt to describe comparisons and change. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “joined different places for their job,” “the highest received,” and “increased their salaries.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “choosed,” “gradutes,” “sctors” and “repectively.” These reduce precision, especially when describing the table. Prefer accurate reporting language such as “worked in,” “the highest salary band,” and “the proportion earning,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “whereas” and a clause beginning “Although.” However, complex sentences are often faulty or incomplete, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Examples include “after they completing,” “the highest number graduates went,” and “the highest received received by the Government Sector,” which show problems with verb forms, sentence construction and agreement. The long final sentence also lacks clear grammatical control and punctuation. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine related ideas with one clear subordinate clause. Check verb forms after “after,” subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries.
