Student answer (Band 5.5)

The pir chart below illustrates the destination of Anthropology graduates from one university and the table shows their salary after 5 years of work.

Overall, the full-time work graduates are higher in population and according to salary, half of graduates working in government sector are highly paid. In contrast, the part-time work + postgard study graduates are least in population and private companies gave less salary to graduates.

The full-time work Anthropology graduates accounted for 52% of population, and become the highest in population, followed by 15% of part-time graduates. The unemployed graduates are contributing for 12%. The part-time work and no known categories both accounted for 8%. However, only 5% of gradutes do part-time work + postgard study.

If i talk about their salaries, there are three type empoyments: Freelance cosultants, Government sector and Private companies and their wage is starting from 25,000-49,999; 50,000-74,999; 75,000-99,999 and 100,000.

Half of graduartes working in Government sector enjoyed 50% and 5% of them 25,000 to 49,999. Freelance consultants gave 40% graduates 100,000 and 5% 25,000 to 49,999. Private companies give less in ebvery field.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both the graduate destinations and the salary table, and your overview identifies the largest destination group (full-time work) and the smallest (part-time work with postgraduate study). Several destination figures are accurate, including 52%, 15%, 12% and 5%. However, some comparisons are incomplete or unclear: “private companies gave less salary” is too broad, since private-company employees are not lowest in every salary band. You also omit the important salary pattern that the $100,000+ group is largest in both government and freelance work, and you do not report the table’s full range of comparisons. “Half” in government is accurate, but the salary bands and percentages need to be linked more precisely. Select key contrasts and state them clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on destinations and a final paragraph on salaries. This makes the two visual elements easy to distinguish, and sequencing the destination figures from largest to smallest is helpful. However, progression within the salary paragraph is less controlled. The sentence listing all employment types and salary bands does not lead into a systematic comparison, while “Private companies give less in every field” is an unclear concluding link. Some connectors, such as “However,” do not express a strong contrast with the preceding figures. To improve, group salary information by employment type or salary band and use linking phrases that accurately show comparison, rather than relying on a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary such as “destination,” “graduates,” “government sector” and “freelance consultants,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range and control are limited, and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural: “higher in population,” “least in population,” “enjoyed 50%,” and “gave 40% graduates” do not describe chart data appropriately. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “pir,” “postgard,” “gradutes,” “empoyments” and “cosultants.” These reduce precision and sometimes make the reader pause. Use standard chart language such as “accounted for,” “the largest proportion,” and “earned,” and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the overview sentence beginning “In contrast” and the conditional-style opening “If I talk about their salaries.” Most of the intended meaning can be followed, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The full-time work Anthropology graduates … and become the highest” has an incorrect verb form and an awkwardly joined clause; “there are three type employments” has errors in number and article use; and “Half of graduates working in Government sector enjoyed 50%” lacks a clear grammatical link between the people and the figure. Capitalisation of “I” is also inconsistent. Build accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, plurals and verb forms. Greater control of these patterns would make your comparisons easier to understand.
