Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main destination category correctly: full-time work accounts for 52%, and you note that part-time work combined with postgraduate study is the smallest group. However, the overview is unclear and includes an inaccurate comparison: full-time postgraduate study is 8%, not equal to the remaining categories, and the 8% “not known” group is omitted. The salary table is only partly reported and contains a major misreading: the figures do not show that 52% earned over $100,000; the $100,000+ shares are 40% for freelance consultants, 50% in government and 30% in private companies. The response also refers to “finance consultants,” which is not a category in the table. Select the key salary contrasts and report each figure against the correct employment type.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic overall structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about graduate destinations and salaries. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is weakened by unclear or inaccurate links between ideas. For example, “fulltime post graduate student has equal percentage with the rest” does not make clear which groups are being compared, and the salary discussion shifts between income bands and employment sectors without a clear sequence. Linking expressions such as “furthermore” and “looking at” are used, but they do not consistently clarify the relationships between the data. Use separate, focused paragraphs for the pie chart and table, and organise each set of figures from largest to smallest or by category.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “postgraduate,” “percentage,” and “sector,” so the response has some relevant language for describing charts. However, the range is limited and frequent spelling and word-choice problems make parts difficult to interpret. Examples include “anthroplogy,” “deoartments,” “slaries,” “goverment,” and “campanies.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “finance consultants” does not match the table’s “freelance consultants,” while “lowest incomer earnets” is not a natural way to describe the lowest salary band. Check spelling carefully and use the chart’s exact category labels. Phrases such as “the proportion of graduates” and “salary band” would also make the descriptions more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You make some attempts to combine information in longer sentences, but the range of structures is limited and errors are frequent enough to make several statements hard to follow. For instance, “full time work students had accounted for 52%” has an awkward verb construction, and “fulltime post graduate student has equal percentage with the rest” has problems with number agreement and sentence structure. Punctuation is also inconsistent: several sentences run together after commas, and spaces are missing around punctuation. Aim for clear, controlled sentences such as “Full-time work accounted for 52% of graduates.” Then check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
