Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main destination, full-time work at 52%, and note that part-time work combined with postgraduate study is the smallest category at 5%. You also report several salary figures accurately, including the government sector’s 50% in the highest band and the private sector’s 10% in the lowest band. However, the response only partially covers the visual: most destination categories and the salary distributions across the middle bands are omitted, and there is little comparison between employment types. The overview is limited to repeating the largest destination and highest salary share, rather than summarising the main patterns in both visuals. Develop a clearer overview and select a few contrasting figures from each chart to support it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has separate paragraphs for the destination chart and salary table, followed by a brief concluding statement, so there is some basic organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is weak: the destination paragraph gives only two figures, while the salary paragraph moves between highest and lowest salaries without a clear comparison or consistent order. Phrases such as “As we can see that” and “The database of salaries after 5 years” do not clearly connect ideas, and the final sentence largely repeats earlier information. Organise the report into a concise overview and focused detail paragraphs, grouping related figures and using clear links such as “By contrast” or “Meanwhile” where comparisons are made.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “full time work,” “salary,” and “government sector,” and the reader can generally identify the categories being discussed. However, the range is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “Anthropolgy,” “post graduate learners,” “database of salaries,” and “the highest salary got the government sector.” Repeated use of “workers,” “people,” and “salary” also makes the description imprecise. Choose standard chart-reporting expressions and use them consistently—for example, “graduates,” “salary band,” “accounted for,” and “earned.” Check spelling and avoid describing a percentage of employees as a salary itself.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Most sentences are short and follow simple patterns, with limited evidence of controlled complex structures. Frequent errors in sentence formation and grammar sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. For example, “The pie chart illustrates the destination of an Anthropolgy students graduating from the university then work as an anthropologists” has problems with articles, number agreement, and the connection between clauses. “As we can see that” is also an incomplete or faulty construction, while “The freelance and government individuals both were 5 percent salary” lacks a clear grammatical relationship between the people and the figure. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled comparisons using clauses such as “whereas” and “while.”
