Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the topic and include an overview that full-time work was the largest destination, and you make some relevant comparisons between salary groups. However, the response covers the charts only minimally: it gives no destination figures and omits several key categories, while the salary discussion is incomplete. Some claims are inaccurate or unclear: the highest salary band was most common in government employment (50%), not simply “mainly” there without comparison, and the private-sector sentence is unfinished. The task requires at least 150 words, but this response has 93, so important features are not sufficiently selected and reported. To improve, describe the main destination proportions and compare the salary distributions with accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with an opening, an overview paragraph and further comments about employment and salaries. This gives the reader some sense of the intended topics. However, the progression is weak: the final paragraph moves abruptly from freelance salaries to graduates combining work and study, then ends with the incomplete phrase “individuals with most money in the private sectors.” Connections between points are not made clear, and there is little use of linking language to show comparisons. Organise the response into a clear overview followed by separate, logically ordered descriptions of the destination chart and salary table, using links such as “by contrast” and “whereas.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “full-time work,” “freelance consultants,” “private sectors” and salary ranges. This shows a basic ability to discuss the charts, but the range is limited and several spelling errors are noticeable, such as “anthropolody,” “thier,” “wadge,” “emplyeed” and “govermernt.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural: “the chart shows the wadge” does not clearly describe salary information, and “people with most money” is too informal and vague for this task. Use accurate chart vocabulary and check spelling carefully; terms such as “proportion,” “salary band” and “employment sector” would help make comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You produce a few simple statements and attempt a longer sentence in the overview, but the range of sentence structures is narrow and errors occur frequently. For example, “Overall, graduates that are emplyeed in full-time work remain the majority” has faulty spacing and an awkward clause structure, while “people who study part while doing part time work is similar to people who study full time” has an agreement error and an unclear comparison. The final sentence is also incomplete, so its grammatical relationship to the preceding point is missing. Practise forming complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and use accurate agreement, articles and punctuation. A wider range of correctly controlled comparison structures would make the report easier to follow.
