Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of the prompt, maintaining a clear position that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the discussion on 'fighting nature' and 'failures' is quite similar, and the disadvantage section is brief and lacks specific examples or nuanced explanation. While the prompt is addressed, the ideas could be extended further to reach a higher band. The introduction is also slightly awkward in its phrasing, though it does establish the writer's stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In contrast to if its disadvantages are been considered'. There are also issues with referencing; for example, the use of 'this' and 'it' is sometimes ambiguous, making the flow between sentences feel disjointed. While there is a logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward transition between ideas limit the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'a verdicts to children', 'foul backs' (likely meaning setbacks), and 'reach a desire goals'. The repetition of basic words like 'try', 'message', and 'motivated' indicates a limited lexical range. To improve, the student should focus on using more varied vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('they motivates', 'it help', 'childs'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, the errors are persistent and occur throughout the text. The range of structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences with some attempts at complex ones that are often marred by errors. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after periods and commas.
