Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both the advantages and disadvantages of the prompt. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on advantages focuses primarily on 'hard work' without exploring the psychological benefits of resilience or goal-setting in depth. Similarly, the disadvantages are limited to 'pressure' and 'depression' without considering broader societal implications. The position is clear, but the lack of depth in supporting arguments prevents a higher score. The response covers all parts of the task, but the ideas are under-developed, which is characteristic of a Band 5.0 performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Some how' is used incorrectly as a transition, and the flow between sentences is frequently disjointed. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'if know how to work hard he can help his mother', where the subject is missing. While there is an overall attempt at logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structure make the essay feel somewhat disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'hard work', 'success', and 'children'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'children's do hard work' (instead of 'children work hard') and 'in their marriage life' (which is contextually odd for children). Spelling errors are also present, such as 'bussines' and 'conculsion'. The student attempts to use some topic-related vocabulary, but the lack of precision and the recurring errors in basic word forms significantly limit the lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('Some individual thinks', 'children's do'), pluralisation ('children's' used incorrectly as a plural), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary articles and prepositions. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are almost always faulty, leading to confusion. The majority of sentences contain errors, and the control of basic grammar is inconsistent, which aligns with the Band 5.0 descriptor.
