Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both advantages and disadvantages, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. The discussion on disadvantages is particularly weak, as the essay struggles to clearly articulate the negative consequences of this message, such as the potential for unrealistic expectations or psychological pressure. The position is somewhat clear, but the lack of depth and the failure to reach the required length prevent a higher score. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples and ensure you meet the word count to allow for a full exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes inaccurate way, such as the repetitive use of 'There are many' at the start of paragraphs. Referencing is frequently unclear, for example, 'It make student moral down' and 'It helpful for chilfren', which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the logical flow. The transition between the advantages and disadvantages is abrupt, and the lack of clear linking words between sentences hinders the overall coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic structures to convey meaning. There are frequent errors in word choice and form, such as 'children's' used incorrectly as a plural noun (e.g., 'children's throughout their lives'), 'moral' instead of 'morale', and 'chilfren' (spelling error). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations and using more academic vocabulary, such as 'resilience', 'perseverance', or 'unrealistic expectations', rather than repeating simple phrases like 'do better' or 'try again'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many parents started', 'It make student moral down'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'their did not score'), and misuse of pronouns (e.g., 'if their give up'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty or contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, you need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that verb tenses are used consistently throughout the essay.
