IELTS Writing Task 2 question
In some cultures, children are often told that they can achieve anything if they try hard enough. What are the advantages and disadvantages of giving children this message?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many cultures childrens are told from their growing age that for gaining anything in their lives harding working is the key aspect for this.
The primary advantage of this beliefs encourage childrens to make their life and future strong through doing hardworking in their achiving goal. They built their life in that way to obtain their primary traget by working on it.In their mindset they think success is based on this and when they do hardwork they get it easily what they want in their life.Like here a bio student in their school life they know that it will be imposible to became doctor without doing hardwork during their school life and collage life if they can't obtain good marks in both study era they will not get admisssion in a medical university.
However, This beliefs have a drawbacks also by providing this statement to the chidlrens in their growing age make some disadvantages. When the child knows that they will get any thing what he wants in their life not only a good thing but bad thing also that impect in their lifes.Success and failure both are the part of life, while doing hardworking success is not complusory because of higher competion. If child did lot of hardwork for achiving their target but it didn't work out and they failed. The result of this failure impect childrens in a broderway like stress , depression anxiety that make them low confidence.
In conclusion, While telling childrens that they can achive any thing with the help of harding working act give them motivation and inspiration for achiving their furture goal but with providing this beliefs to childrens give them both motivations that always give their best in every aspect of life and accept the result of this whether success or failure without any negative effect in their mindset or in their life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both advantages and disadvantages and maintain a relevant focus on the message that effort can lead to achievement. The example of a student needing to work hard to enter medical school supports the benefit, while the discussion of stress and low confidence after failure gives a relevant drawback. However, some points are not fully explained: the claim that children may pursue “bad thing[s]” is unclear, and the conclusion introduces accepting outcomes without explaining how children can be taught to do this. Develop each point with a clearer explanation and ensure the disadvantages directly examine the effects of the message, rather than making broad claims about failure.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. “However” signals the shift between the two sides, and the medical-school example is placed appropriately within the benefits paragraph. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, though. For example, “This beliefs have a drawbacks also” does not smoothly introduce the contrast, and the sequence from children expecting anything they want to the effects of failure is difficult to follow. Several ideas are joined in long sentences, making their relationships less clear. Use more precise referencing and divide complex explanations into shorter, logically connected sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “motivation,” “success and failure,” “stress,” and “depression.” However, the range is limited by repeated use of “hardworking” and “achiving,” and several word choices or spellings make the meaning difficult to follow, such as “hardinging working,” “traget,” and “impect.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “make their life and future strong” and “in a broderway.” Aim to use accurate collocations and vary repeated terms. For instance, describe children as developing “perseverance” or “resilience,” and explain that effort can “improve their chances” rather than guarantee success.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional example about a student who wants to become a doctor. However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and verb forms sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. Examples include “This beliefs have a drawbacks,” “they will get any thing what he wants,” and “If child did lot of hardwork.” Punctuation also needs attention: several sentences run together, as in “working on it.In their mindset.” Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, checking subject–verb agreement and article use, then add subordinate clauses once the basic structure is secure.
