Student answer (Band 6.0)
In all around the world, people are moving to urban areas to have a better life style. Therefore the population in the rural areas has been decreasing. In my opinion this is a negative development due to various reasons.
One of the main reason why population in countryside is important is that they directly contrubute for the economy of thecountry by providing agriculture production. This is because agriculture is mainly occurs in the rural areas. As a result, the production may decrese and ultimately it may affect for the economy. For instance, some modernized countries now importing agrculture goods from other countries to meet the declining requirment due to low farming communities. Furthermore, Often communities are closely connected to the cultural significance of a country. This is because local people have better understading about the cultural values and traditional methods. Therefore declining rural community may result in disappering such kinds of traditions and values.
However, there are some advantages of the population reduction in rural areas. One major advantage is that it can ensure the future existence of Wild life. This is because clearing forests for farmlands often distruct the wild life habitats. Therefore decline in agriculture activities may protect some endangered species. For example, many elephants are die due to illegal farm lands inside the forests In Sri Lanka.
In conclusion, Although the declining population in rural areas may offer certain benefits, I believe that it is a predominatly negative development because of it adverse effects on local economies and the cultural heritage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you consider rural depopulation negative, while acknowledging a benefit for wildlife. The economic and cultural arguments are relevant, and the example about importing agricultural goods helps illustrate the economic concern. This meets the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed: the claim that declining farming may harm the economy needs a clearer explanation, and the wildlife point is brief and does not fully show how rural migration would reduce habitat loss. To strengthen the response, explain the links between each cause and consequence more precisely and develop the examples so they directly support your judgement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting reasons for your view, a contrasting paragraph, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Furthermore,” and “However” help readers follow the argument. Some connections are nevertheless mechanical or unclear. For example, “This is because agriculture is mainly occurs in the rural areas” repeats the preceding point rather than extending it, while the shift from forest clearing to declining rural populations needs a more explicit explanation. The cultural argument also moves quickly from local knowledge to disappearing traditions. Use references and transitions that show the precise relationship between claims, and make each paragraph’s reasoning progress step by step.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt topic-relevant vocabulary, including “agriculture production,” “cultural significance,” “traditional methods,” and “endangered species,” which allows you to discuss both economic and environmental effects. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word combinations are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: examples include “contrubute,” “decrese,” “agriculture goods,” and “declining requirment.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “better life style” and “future existence of Wild life.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations as complete phrases, rather than translating word by word. More precise choices would make your arguments sound clearer and more natural without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and more complex forms, including cause-and-effect clauses with “because” and “Therefore,” and a concession in the conclusion beginning “Although.” Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “One of the main reason” needs plural agreement, and “agriculture is mainly occurs” combines incompatible verb forms. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “inside the forests In Sri Lanka.” Review subject–verb agreement, verb patterns, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and correctly formed clause. Greater control of these structures would make the argument easier to read while preserving the range you are already attempting.
