Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, people of rural areas are migrating towards urban areas, as a result the countryside's population is decreasing. I believe that it is a negative development. Although life at cities is more convenient but the people of rural areas are living a healthy life as well as play an important role in taking acre of nature.
No doubt, life in cities is more easier and fast. However, the people of rural areas live more healthier life in many ways. They have good physical health, as they are more active and have access to preservative free organic food, make them more energetic and free from diseases. They spend a stress free life, as they do not have fast and busy life like cities, resulted in a good mental health.
Moreover, people of rural areas rely on occupations that are environmental friendly. For instance, they cultivate various crops, producing vegetables, fruits and different grains that are not only beneficial for themselves but also for the urban population as well as produce oxygen to breathe. In countryside, people use less transport are prefer to walk which is also good for their health and environment.
In contrast, people of urban areas, have fast pace life, competition of education, jobs, and career make them suffer with depression and anxiety. Moreover, they rely heavily of synthetic food, which make them physically less energetic.
In conclusion, despite the numerous advantages of city life, I consider rural life is more healthier and beneficial for the people as well as for the environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that rural-to-urban migration is a negative development. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health, stress, and environmental impact. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the health benefits of rural life. While the essay covers all parts of the task, the arguments could be more nuanced; for instance, the essay ignores the economic or educational drivers of migration, which would have provided a more balanced and sophisticated discussion. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main stance, but the overall development remains at a Band 6 level due to the lack of depth in exploring the complexities of the issue.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In contrast', and 'For instance' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disjointed, such as the transition between the second and third paragraphs. Referencing is generally clear, but the use of punctuation and sentence structure occasionally hinders the smooth progression of ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure is coherent enough to follow the writer's argument without difficulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'preservative free' and 'synthetic food', which are used appropriately. However, there are several word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'life at cities' (instead of 'life in cities'), 'more easier' (a double comparative error), and 'taking acre of nature' (a typo for 'taking care'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a limited range that prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'life at cities is more convenient but' (incorrect conjunction usage), 'resulted in a good mental health' (missing subject/verb agreement), and 'rely heavily of synthetic food' (incorrect preposition). Additionally, there are issues with comparative forms, such as 'more healthier' and 'more easier', which are grammatically incorrect. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors, particularly in basic structures, limits the score. A greater focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage is needed.
