Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people in different countries are relocating from villages to urban cities, considering it as development for their lifestyle and other various reasons. I consider this as negative trend.

In recent years there have been siginficant rise in the members relocating to cities from villages as they consider urban places have more job offers with good prospects of earning. They do consider things about healthcare, Education for their future generation and other factors which are accessible easily in large city areas.

In my view people who are migrating as they could see devlopment isnt good always s they think because securing a job in rural areas is difficult and as there is depletion in populationin country side which is the main source of food, as the produce is getting lower the cost also inccreases day to day which is agin getting aoyed by the person who migrated from cuntry side

Overall the negative effects out weigh the positive effects and devloping countryside with proper infrastructure and givning them propee needs could stop this

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 173 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting examples or depth. While you clearly state your position that the trend is negative, the supporting points—such as the impact on food production and the cost of living—are underdeveloped and lack logical flow. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples, data, or personal observations to fully explore the implications of rural-to-urban migration as required by the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The transition between the reasons for migration and the negative consequences is abrupt. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas effectively; for instance, the third paragraph is a single, long, and confusing sentence that struggles to connect the depletion of the countryside to the rising cost of food. Using linking words like 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in contrast' would help improve the logical flow and make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several spelling errors, such as 'siginficant,' 'devlopment,' 'inccreases,' 'agin,' 'aoyed,' and 'cuntry side.' These errors, combined with limited word choice, hinder the overall quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to urbanization, infrastructure, and socio-economic impacts, and ensure that you proofread your work to eliminate simple spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('there have been siginficant rise'), article usage ('in large city areas'), and sentence structure. The third paragraph is particularly problematic, as it is a run-on sentence that lacks proper punctuation, making it difficult to parse the intended meaning. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on writing shorter, error-free sentences before attempting more complex ones will help improve your accuracy.
