Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that rural-to-urban migration is a negative development. The ideas are relevant, focusing on overpopulation, resource scarcity, and the decline of agriculture. However, the development is somewhat limited. The arguments are repetitive, and the essay lacks specific examples or deeper analysis to support the claims. For instance, the point about food supply is mentioned but not explained in detail. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete evidence or real-world examples to substantiate your points, rather than simply restating the problems.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To embark with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To embark with' (which is not standard English). Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'overpopulation', 'scarcity', and 'agricultural land'. However, the range is limited, and there are instances of awkward word choices or phrasing, such as 'jobs appling for jobs will be more' and 'use of agriculture land will be elimanted'. There are also minor spelling errors like 'appling' and 'elimanted'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and expanding your range of academic vocabulary to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'facilities... were build'), missing articles (e.g., 'shortage of jobs'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'people will not able to find house'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the flow. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses, article usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed accurately.
