Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, numerous individuals tends to transfer from village to big cities, for the betterment of their future and life.

On the one hand, there are many reasons why people move from their hometown to other places. Firstly, they travel to Metropolis because of the facilities in their area. Because of the innovation in everything they have very low facilities as compared to big cities.

For instance in the field of education they have very less number of schools present for good and quality education.

However, their are so much beneficials of moving people to big cities, as it helps in economy growth for the country and also began new chances for the business to grow.

Moreover, it make more positive chances for the people to learn about various traditions and cultures from rural peoples and it helps them to become even closer to their tradition.

Furthermore, it have some negative aspects also,

such as the population of big cities increases and create more pollution as compared to past. Also, it effects the climate change as pollution rise from their normal level and cause different diseases which can create health issues for the people. Also it can cause inflation in country, as their are less number of jobs available as compared to population in city.

Consequently, moving to big cities also negative impact for the people as they only rely on agriculture and when they move to city they have no chance for this. Also country will not produce more agricultural product as many people move to cities.

In conclusion, there is beneficial for people to move to other city only for the betterment of education and good future , but not to move whole family without any good purpose.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both positive and negative aspects of rural-to-urban migration. However, the position is not consistently clear throughout the essay. While you mention benefits like economic growth and drawbacks like pollution and agricultural decline, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'traditions and cultures' is vague and lacks a concrete example to support the argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your arguments are fully extended with specific, relevant examples rather than general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'However, their are so much beneficials' is grammatically incorrect and awkward. Some paragraphs are very short, which disrupts the flow of ideas. The logical progression is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of varied linking words. To improve, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') more naturally to connect your ideas and sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of incorrect word forms or inappropriate choices, such as 'beneficials' (used as a noun), 'innovation in everything' (vague), and 'effects' instead of 'affects'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and some phrases are repetitive. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urbanisation and socio-economic issues. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating words like 'big cities' and 'people'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'individuals tends', 'it make', 'it have') and pluralisation (e.g., 'less number of schools') are noticeable. Additionally, there are persistent issues with articles and prepositions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading your work to catch common slips in tense and word form.
