Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the migration from rural to urban areas and identifying it as a positive development. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention career and education, the arguments are often repetitive and lack specific, well-supported examples. The position is clear, but the explanation of why this is a 'positive' development is somewhat superficial. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea with a clear link back to the prompt. Avoid generalizations and aim for more depth in your reasoning to better meet the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes used incorrectly or do not effectively link the ideas. Referencing is occasionally confusing, such as in the second paragraph where the subject of 'they' is ambiguous. To improve, focus on using cohesive devices to create a smoother progression of ideas and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one. Better paragraph structure would also help the reader follow your argument more easily.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'positive', and 'important' throughout the essay. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'development city' instead of 'developed city' and 'archive a balanced' instead of 'achieve a balanced'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the frequent errors in word form hinder the overall quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to urbanization and socio-economic development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'countryside population are decline'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'people prefer live'). Sentence structures are often simple or contain errors when attempting complexity, such as 'This is not only benefits individuals but also contributes to society'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures.
