Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, people of rural areas are moving to the urban side. Because of this trend, the population of the villages are decreasing. In my take, this act of moving to cities is the positive development as they go there to get proper education and to earn better to make thermselves financially better.

In this era of advancements, people are inclining towards the cities to improve their status. Students are moving there to get higher education. They manage their studies along with the hard work they do day and night to support their families. When they come there just with one mission to do something and to be someone and make their lives financially strong.

In my view, they are heroes of the country. They are doing everything to make their status better. For example, in Pakistan, students of Village areas come to the city and make their special places. Most of the villagers are the toppers of Pakistan.

In conclusion, we should appreciate village people to go and get education there families to support

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 174 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting evidence. While you state a clear position that the trend is positive, the explanation is repetitive and lacks the depth required for an academic essay. The conclusion is incomplete and fails to summarize the main points effectively. To improve, you must expand your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure that all parts of the prompt are addressed with sufficient depth to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'they' and 'there' without clear referents, which makes the text difficult to follow. The transition between the introduction, body paragraphs, and the conclusion is abrupt. The final sentence is fragmented and lacks logical connection to the rest of the paragraph. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that flows logically into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'moving', 'getting', and 'better'. There are noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'urban side' instead of 'urban areas' and 'in my take' instead of 'in my opinion'. The phrasing is often unnatural, which hinders the clarity of your message. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations. For example, instead of saying 'make their status better', you could use 'improve their socioeconomic status'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help make your writing more engaging and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the population of the villages are decreasing' (should be 'is'), and awkward sentence structures, such as 'we should appreciate village people to go and get education there families to support'. The range of sentence structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or slightly flawed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and missing words.
