Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the migration is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention education, infrastructure, and job opportunities, these points are presented as a list rather than being fully extended with logical reasoning or specific, illustrative examples. The discussion regarding the countryside is also somewhat brief and lacks depth. To improve, you should focus on explaining 'why' and 'how' these changes occur, rather than simply stating them. Ensure that your arguments are balanced and fully explored to meet the requirements for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'first and foremost' and 'secondly'. Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs is hindered by fragmented phrasing. For example, the transition from the benefits of city life to the reasons for rural decline is quite sudden. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'well education', 'educ their children', and 'deffect different sectors'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'infrastructure' and 'pesticides', the range is limited, and the lack of precision prevents a higher score. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas more naturally and effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('Individual get job'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain fragments, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters and commas. These errors are frequent and sometimes impede the reader's ability to follow your argument. To reach a higher band, you need to work on basic sentence construction, verb tenses, and the accurate use of articles and prepositions.
