Student answer (Band 6.0)

In myriad countries, rural people are moving to urban cities and the population in countryside is decreasing. According to me, it is a constructive development because of getting better job opportunities and amenities available.

The first and the foremost reason to move to cities is that individuals get better opportunities in their work field. To explain it more, cities offer good job opportunities to educated people with handsome salary which automatically attracts people to move to cities. For example, In India, many young people move to Delhi, Mumbai and Chandigarh for better quality of life. As a result, with good amount of money, they can raise their standard of living of their own and family too.

Secondly, many facilities like transportation, advanced education and healthcare services are easily available in metropolitan cities. These facilities make individuals daily life more convenient and provide better opportunities. For example, many students move to cities to access degree from reputed universities and colleges. Hence, they can improve their education and career pathway clearly. Moreover, transportation is easily available in big cities such as buses, cars and trains. This makes travelling faster and more convenient, allow people to commute easily to their workplaces, education centers and hospitals.

Although, there may be adverse affects on agricultural land in rural areas and aged people feel loneliness in their own place due to migration of young people to cities, I believe that urbanization is a constructive development because it provides people a good quality life with better opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all parts of the task by clearly stating your position that urbanization is a positive development. You provided two main reasons—economic opportunities and access to facilities—and supported them with relevant examples from India. The ideas are generally well-developed, though the discussion of the negative impacts in the conclusion is a bit brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that you balance your arguments more thoroughly; while you acknowledge the downsides, a more detailed counter-argument would strengthen the overall essay structure. Your position remains clear throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'The first and the foremost reason', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be more sophisticated. For instance, the link between the two body paragraphs could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and each paragraph has a clear central topic, which helps the reader follow your line of reasoning without difficulty.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'urbanization', 'amenities', 'metropolitan', and 'commute'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'access degree' (should be 'access to degrees') and 'handsome salary' (which is slightly informal). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, there is room for more precision and variety to elevate the tone. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the flexibility and sophisticated control required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'According to me' (a common error; 'In my opinion' is better), 'individuals daily life' (missing possessive apostrophe), and 'allow people' (should be 'allowing people'). There are also minor punctuation issues, such as the unnecessary capitalization of 'In India' mid-sentence and the comma usage before 'Although'. Despite these errors, your meaning is always clear, and the mistakes do not impede communication.
