Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's globalized world, majority of individuals are migrating from villages to the metropolitan cities in the search of job opportunities to build a successful future. As a result the population in rural areas are declining day by day. I strongly believe that it is a negative effect. Although it provides numerous opportunities for young people to get better jobs, it negatively affects the economic growth of rural areas and enhances overcrowding in urban cities.
Firstly, in the recent modern world usually people are moving from rural areas to well developed cities in search of a better job, to earn a good salary package, and to build a successful future. Consequently, it affects the economy of rural areas. As the farmers are moving to cities the agricultural system of villages is suffering from this act. For instance, in Pakistan almost all people are shifting in cities for jobs due to which the whole family is moving in urban areas and leave there homes and farms behind due to which agricultural system is declining.
Secondly, it also affects the urbanized cities by increasing population in well developed cities. Due to the overcrowding in cities people are facing defficulties to get proper home to live as the inflation is increasing it creates challenges not only for migrants but also for the early residents of the cities. For instance, in well developed cities due to overcrowding the traffic congestion is increased which pollutants the air and cause severe health issues for residents.
In conclusion, while the move from rural areas to cities brings multiple opportunities to young generation, it reduces the economic growth in rural areas and enhances pollution and health issues in urban areas. The government should provide career opportunities at villages to mitigate the side effects of migration of people in cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified the negative impacts of rural-to-urban migration, specifically focusing on the decline of agriculture and the strain on urban infrastructure. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the situation in Pakistan. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are more fully developed; for instance, you could expand on the long-term socio-economic consequences of rural depopulation beyond just the agricultural sector. The conclusion effectively summarizes your main points and offers a relevant suggestion for government intervention.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'this act' which is a bit vague. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended nouns to improve the flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'globalized', 'metropolitan', 'infrastructure', and 'inflation'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'pollutants the air' (should be 'pollutes') and 'early residents' (should be 'existing residents'). While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, some phrasing is slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—and ensure that you are using the correct word forms (e.g., noun vs. verb) in your sentences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('majority of individuals are', 'population... are declining') and minor spelling mistakes like 'defficulties'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher band, you should aim for more error-free sentences and work on consistent subject-verb agreement. Additionally, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as conditional sentences or passive voice, to demonstrate greater control over your writing.
