Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this digital world, in recent days, many people are migrating from the villages to big cities due to that the population in the rural areas are declining day by day. I believe that this is a positive approach for better life opportunities and resources, which is not easily available in countryside areas.

The primary reason why I consider this to be a positive development is that to enhance standard of living. People can easily access several career opportunities in big cities such as employment, transport, education, and markets. By the help of these amenities, masses can get excellent qualifications, which leads to an increase in the literacy rate of the country. People can not only gain knowledge but also build social connections by getting employment in multinational companies. As a result, moving more people to the urban areas is a sign of a country's development.

On the other side, most of the young generations shifting but it has a negative impact on the future genrations as their cultural connections are demolished. Children are not aware about their traditional languages, heritage, and cultural ceremonies. Young people are not aware about the process of farming and privatisation is increasing due to selling land to the big companies for earning. As a result, cultural values are getting lost day by days.

In my opinion, More opportunities are attracting young people towards the metropolitan cities. if government make some plans to provide resources in regional areas that can improve the situation because everyone prefer better lifestyle.

In conclusion, although people are loosing cultural and traditional values by moving rural to urban, in this competitive world it is more important to gain more knowledge for better lifestyle and enhance sta

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that rural-to-urban migration is a positive development. The main ideas regarding economic opportunities and the negative impact on cultural heritage are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about 'privatisation' and 'selling land' is introduced but not clearly linked to the core issue of migration. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which affects the overall task completion. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments would benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'On the other side', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal shifts in the argument. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'By the help of these amenities'. The abrupt ending of the essay significantly impacts the coherence of the final paragraph, as the concluding thought is left unfinished.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'metropolitan' and 'amenities'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'cultural connections are demolished' (eroded/lost would be better) and 'loosing' (spelling error for 'losing'). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the population... are declining'), missing articles ('in recent days'), and awkward phrasing ('if government make some plans'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score to the 6.0 band.
