Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, people living in rural areas are seen shifting to urban areas to seek more employment opportunities and other endless benefits, so the population of people living in countryside is diminishing due to which many fields are experiencing major impacts. I believe that even-though the given notion has few disadvantages, yet it can be described as positive development due to forth stated points before citing a reasonable conclusion.

On the one hand, there are endless benefits of people moving to cities such as, new employment opportunities can be explored by people in different areas of work as in urbanised areas there is plenty of work available. Also, it can help people to raise their standard of living as people will be able to get better pay for the work done. In addition, their are plenty of opportunities available for unskilled people, as they can work as an assistant or just indulge in regular labour. As a result, income and living standard of people will eventually improve which will not only benefit the people, but also the nation by improvement in data depicting per ca-pita income and other means.

On the other hand, excessive migration of people from countryside to cities can be a bit of problem for the nation and people. As nation relays on rural ares for pottery and other domestic industries, so if those people migrate from rural to urban the production of those products will be affected. Moreover, the shifting of the people from rural to urban will have a bad impact on area of agriculture, as there will be very less number of population indulged in field of agriculture. As a result the nation will suffer from dip in participation of agriculture and establishment of domestic work countries.

To conclude, although there are few disadvantages of people migrating from rural and countryside areas to modern urbanised cities, yet the benefits that nation and its people could experience can not be ignored. Thus, I firmly believe that shifting of people from rural to urban depicts a positive development for the nation along with its people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that the migration is a positive development. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of employment and the drawbacks regarding agricultural production. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the mention of 'pottery and other domestic industries' is a bit narrow and lacks depth. While the position is consistent throughout, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question asked.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages and disadvantages. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'To conclude' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there is occasional awkwardness in phrasing, such as 'due to which many fields are experiencing major impacts'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'diminishing', 'urbanised', and 'per capita'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'forth stated points' (instead of 'aforementioned') and 'work countries' (which is unclear). Spelling errors like 'relays' (instead of 'relies') and 'ares' (instead of 'areas') also occur. While these do not impede communication, they limit the score as the range is not consistently used with precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the field of agriculture'), subject-verb agreement ('their are plenty'), and punctuation. For example, the sentence 'As a result the nation will suffer from dip in participation...' lacks necessary articles. Additionally, there are some awkward phrasings that affect the clarity of the complex structures. While these errors rarely impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band for grammatical accuracy.
