Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that the benefits of rural-to-urban migration outweigh the drawbacks. The writer attempts to support this viewpoint by mentioning modern facilities, internet, public transport, and job opportunities in cities. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For instance, the second paragraph mentions lifestyle changes and farming reduction, but the arguments remain somewhat undeveloped and are obscured by frequent mechanical errors in expression. While all parts of the task are addressed, the lack of fully extended supporting arguments places this response firmly at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into four paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at structural organisation with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions (e.g., 'Initially, People are agrue', 'On the other hand, Some people'). Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, and referencing is often unclear, such as the sudden shift in perspectives within the body paragraphs. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion fails to create a smooth, logical flow, resulting in a Band 5.0 performance for this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and basic, with frequent lexical errors that occasionally cause strain for the reader. Examples include non-standard formations like 'benefitcs', 'amentities', 'shelterment', 'foregin', and 'overcoweded'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'luxury lifestyle', 'traffic congestion', and 'job opportunities', the high density of spelling and word-choice inaccuracies prevents the response from achieving a higher band. The lexical range is minimally adequate for addressing the topic, justifying a score of 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay, with a very limited range of structures and frequent errors. Many sentences are non-standard or fragmented, such as 'countryside people are started shifiting to urban area, so that due that in the rural area population is decreasing nowdays.' There is a heavy presence of run-on sentences, incorrect verb forms ('are started shifiting', 'could'nt adjust'), and faulty preposition use. Complex sentences are attempted but are almost always faulty. Because errors are frequent and constantly impede fluency and clarity, a band score of 4.0 is appropriate here.
