Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response is significantly under-length, containing only 208 words against the required minimum of 250 words, which severely impacts task achievement. While the student attempts to address the prompt by discussing reasons for rural-to-urban migration and arguing that it is a negative development, the essay remains incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence ('As this sectors play very significa'). The main ideas, such as employment opportunities and government budget pressures, are mentioned but remain underdeveloped due to the premature ending. Consequently, the position is not fully sustained, and the task is only partially addressed, leading to a band score of 5.0 in accordance with the descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates some basic organizational structure with a clear introduction and paragraph breaks. However, the overall progression is hindered by the incomplete nature of the response. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes repetitive or awkwardly applied, such as the repeated use of 'This trend' at the start of sentences. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrase 'why may reduction in rural population.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph breaks off abruptly, preventing a fully coherent overall arrangement. Based on these issues, a band score of 5.0 is appropriate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for discussing urbanization, utilizing terms such as 'urbanization', 'employment opportunities', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, including 'urban city' instead of 'cities' or 'urban areas', 'employbility' instead of 'employability', and 'budegt' instead of 'budget'. Additionally, repetitive phrasing such as 'moved to urban city' limits the lexical score. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, errors in word choice and spelling cause some difficulty for the reader, placing this performance at a band score of 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues in 'urbanization become' and tense or phrasing confusion in 'why rural people moved to countryside is that because' and 'why may reduction in rural population.' Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present, and the response contains multiple incomplete or ungrammatical clauses, especially towards the end where the sentence cuts off entirely. These frequent errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader align with a band score of 5.0.
