Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the movement of rural populations to cities and clearly stating a position that this is a positive development. The main ideas, such as employment opportunities, education, and healthcare access, are relevant and extended, supported by examples like companies and factories offering work. However, some arguments lack full clarity and development due to language limitations, for instance, the assertion that urban migration automatically guarantees free health services with experts. Overall, the task is adequately addressed, aligning with a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct points (employment, then education and healthcare), and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, with awkward transitional phrases such as 'In addition of benefits' and 'Due to the facts'. Referencing and logical progression within sentences occasionally break down, leading to slight confusion for the reader, which places the response firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic task, including terms like 'employment ratio', 'standard of living', 'economic activity', and 'literacy rate'. However, there are notable spelling errors and incorrect word choices throughout the text, such as 'cuntryside' instead of 'countryside', 'develpment' instead of 'development', 'amout' instead of 'amount', 'migrant' instead of 'migrate', and 'serives' instead of 'services'. These inaccuracies occur frequently and sometimes impede communication, though the vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the general message, justifying a score of 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied grammatical structures, such as conditional and relative clauses ('those employee who migrant to urban areas...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and article usage, such as 'people able to obtain', 'childrens are not able', 'patients access the better healthcare serives', and missing prepositions. Punctuation is also weak in places, such as lowercase 'i' for the pronoun 'I'. These errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
