Student answer (Band 5.5)

In various countries around the worldwide, rural people are mloving to ubran areas, therefore, the community in the countryside is decling. Notwithstanding the opposing viewpoint, I totally believe that it is positive development. This essay will outline the reason for my position.

Firstly, rural individuals are moving to cities. Therefore, popullation in the village side are decreasing is a good development due to many reasons such as, there numerous facilities; including school. college, hospitals and university in the city as campared to backward side. In village areas, many people face a various kinds of hurdles. For instance, my uncle live in countryside and when he was sick with typhiod in last year. He went to nearest hospital for treatment and there were not a facility of mbbs doctor. Moreover, he went from village to city for his treatment due to lack of doctor in their own area. Consequntely, it is clear that moving in urban areas is a beneifical development.

Another compelling reason is that when the majority of the popullation move from undeveloped areas to city site. So, it leads to increased the popullation in urban areas. In addition, educated people will be move from city areas to countryside due to high pressure of crowds of people in city areas. when educated people will move to backward areas they would help to development in village sites in various acitivites such as education system, health system and constrution of road. For example, I live in Gohadpur village. A few years ago, my village have not any kinds of facility regarding study and health but 2 years ago doctor Ali and his family shifted in my village. He helped a lot to change for the development of my village. Therefore, It is evident that population in the countryside is decreasing is a positive development.

In conclusion, in light of the above statement, it is clear that there numerous merits of this stance.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that the rural-to-urban migration is a positive development and supports this stance with relevant arguments, such as better educational and healthcare facilities in cities and the potential for educated returnees to aid rural development. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive, and the development is occasionally hindered by unclear phrasing and circular reasoning, such as restating the premise multiple times. Furthermore, the example regarding the uncle's typhoid experience supports the need for healthcare rather than fully developing the core argument about the overall societal shift. Because all parts of the prompt are addressed and a consistent position is maintained, this performance aligns closely with the Band 6 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable overall structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, indicating a clear attempt at organisation. Paragraphing is utilised, though the second body paragraph is quite dense. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Another compelling reason', and 'In conclusion' are employed to signpost the progression of ideas, but referencing and linking can be mechanical or repetitive. For instance, sentences are frequently linked with 'therefore' or 'moreover' in a formulaic manner. Pronoun referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'when he was sick with typhiod in last year. He went...', which disrupts the flow. Overall cohesion is satisfactory for a Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for the topic, including terms like 'infrastructure' equivalents (facilities, hospitals, school, college), 'migration' (moving to cities), and 'development'. However, there are frequent spelling errors ('worldwide', 'mloving', 'ubran', 'decling', 'popullation', 'campared', 'consequntely', 'beneifical', 'acitivites') and word-form inaccuracies ('village side', 'backward side', 'high pressure of crowds'). These lexical slips and spelling mistakes occasionally require the reader to decode the intended meaning, though they do not completely impede communication. This balance of adequate range combined with noticeable errors places the lexical control at Band 5.5, which rounds to Band 6 for positive marking of communicative attempt.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses ('when he was sick', 'where educated people will move') and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak throughout the text. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'rural people are mloving', 'popullation in the village side are decreasing', 'my uncle live', and 'my village have not any kinds of facility'. Punctuation errors are also notable, including sentence fragments like 'He went to nearest hospital for treatment and there were not a facility of mbbs doctor.' These frequent errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, aligning the grammar profile closely with Band 5.
