Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's modern world many families are moving to cities to live a quality of life. Rural areas are now facing a fall in population as many researches say's that in cities people get more facilities. In many countries around the world, rural people are moving to cities, so the population in the countryside is decreasing.

To some extent i think this is positive development.

At this moment people are moving greatly to cities because they are facing many problems in rural areas such as, poluttion, electricity shortage, internet problems etc .Whereas, in cities people get avail alot of facilities, as there are many hospitals, schools and carrier opportunities. In a nutshell, individuals get better jobs and get a chance to grow in their life.

However, many people say's that its not good to abundant our rural areas as rural ares are the core heart of any countries. so, we have to give importance to our rural areas as well because developing these areas can be a good choice and help us great to grow our country. Rural areas provide us natural goods such as vegetables, fruits and pure milk etc.

In my opinion, Rurals areas can be develop and proof as positive development for any country as it does not cause the decrease in population and also give chance to the people with poor background. It will help us to arose hidden talent from the people of rural areas by providing them better education and medical facilities.

In conclusion, moving of people to cities can be a postive devlopment as they serve better by getting more enhanced facilities and also proof as a negative development if the people of city is already struggling with job or residencies problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether the rural-to-urban migration trend is a positive or negative development. The writer takes a clear position, stating that it is positive to some extent, and provides reasons such as better facilities, carrier opportunities, and education in cities, while also touching upon the counter-argument regarding the importance of rural areas. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep development. Phrases like 'in cities people get more facilities' are reiterated without being fully elaborated with concrete examples. Furthermore, the conclusion shifts slightly by stating it could also be a negative development depending on city conditions, which slightly muddies the focus. Overall, it satisfies the basic requirements for a Band 5.5 to 6.0, as the main parts are addressed but some ideas remain underdeveloped.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is organized into five paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor transitions and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'At this moment' instead of a transitional phrase indicating a reason, and 'In a nutshell' used inappropriately to introduce a personal opinion rather than a summary. Paragraphing is attempted, but the body paragraphs lack clear internal cohesion, often consisting of disjointed sentences like 'poluttion, electricity shortage, internet problems etc .' Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall flow requires the reader to work harder to follow the argument, aligning best with a Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student uses a limited and repetitive vocabulary with noticeable errors that occasionally hinder comprehension. Words are misspelled or misused frequently, such as 'poluttion' for pollution, 'avail' used as a verb incorrectly ('avail alot of facilities'), 'carrier' instead of career, 'abundant' instead of abandon, 'Rurals' instead of Rural, 'arose' instead of arouse, and 'postive' and 'devlopment' in the conclusion. While there are attempts to use less common words like 'opportunities', 'facilities', and 'development', the high frequency of word-choice and spelling errors places this firmly in the Band 5.0 category, as the vocabulary is minimally adequate for the task but causes noticeable difficulty.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic compound forms. Attempts at complex sentences are generally faulty or poorly constructed, such as 'many researches say's that in cities people get more facilities' and 'Rurals areas can be develop and proof as positive development'. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'researches say's', 'people says'), verb forms ('can be develop', 'proof as', 'is already struggling'), and punctuation (erroneous spaces before commas and periods). These frequent errors cause strain for the reader and reflect the descriptors for a Band 5.0.
