Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowdays there is a surge in migration of people from rural areas to urban areas all over the world. This has led to a decrease in number of people in the rural areas. Although this may cause congestion and overcrowding in the cities, I believe it is a positive development since there are more oportunities in the cities than in the country side and city life exposes people to advanced technology and better lifestyle.
There are more oportunities in the city than in the country side. Most Rural areas are already developed and they have a lot of structure like education facilities and manufacting companies hence its easy to access quality education and well paying jobs in the city.Job market in the city is not the same as in the village and also the payment is not the same.People in the cities are paid more than in the countryside
Cities have advanced technologies than the country side. When you move to the city you can access the digital world through facilities like cash machines , speed trains and elevators. This can give you the exposure you need even if you have a chance to move abroad you will not have struggles. Additionally you can meet intellectuals in the city and learn new ideas from them there by giving you the connection you need to excel in Life.
In conclusion migration to the city is a positive development as it gives the country men both opportunities and exposure. People should not be confined to village life they should be frre to migrate.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that the rural-to-urban migration is a positive development, supported by relevant ideas regarding opportunities and lifestyle benefits. However, while the stance is maintained throughout, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the paragraph on technology touches upon digital facilities like cash machines and high-speed trains, but the argument remains somewhat generalized and lacks deeper extension. To move to a higher level, the response would need to fully develop every supporting point with richer, more comprehensive explanation and specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a logical progression of ideas, moving from general opportunities to technological exposure. The writing utilizes basic cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion' to connect arguments. While it successfully meets the lower band requirements, it exhibits characteristics of the next level through its clear overall organisation and paragraphing, yet falls slightly short of full flexibility because some referencing and transitions between sentences feel a bit mechanical or lack seamless integration. Strengthening cohesive ties would elevate the organizational flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's ideas about migration and city life. The student attempts less common vocabulary, such as 'surge', 'congestion', and 'intellectuals', demonstrating an effort to expand lexical range. However, there are noticeable spelling errors like 'Nowdays', 'oportunities', and 'manufacting', alongside occasional inaccuracies in word choice or phrasing, such as 'country side' instead of 'countryside' and 'country men'. These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect a limited precision and occasional slip that keep the lexical score at this level. Using more precise collocations consistently would improve this aspect.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating structures like concessive clauses ('Although this may cause congestion...') and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing spaces after punctuation marks ('world. This'), minor subject-verb agreement issues ('Most Rural areas are already developed and they have...'), and article omissions. Crucially, these errors are sporadic and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the arguments without difficulty. To reach a higher level, the writing would need a wider variety of error-free complex structures and tighter control over punctuation and article usage.
