Student answer (Band 6.0)

In some nations in the globe, rural individuals are immigrating to modern towns, which decreases the populace of the villlages. This notion has a positive impact on society as it promotes better job opportunities, improved services and boosts economic growth.

First of all, developed cities gives better job opportunities to the individuals. In other words, only agriculture related works are avaliable in the villages, whereas urban area gives employement to the rural people in different fields to manage finances easily and effectively, which decreases the financial burden of an individual. For example, 'The Hindustan Times' reported last year that 78% of employees at workplace are the rural population. Thus, metropolitan cities provide employement to umemployed people and it give work force to factories and companies. Apart from this, developed cities increase economic growth of the nation, by increasing employment ratio and work force.

Secondly, the main reason behind the fall in population rate of rural area is that there are poor facilities. To explain it, shortage of water, unpurified water, poor transportation facilities and lack of services like schools and hospitals, these all problems attract the rural population towards the well-organised cities. Basically, to balance the standard lifestyle and have better facilities. For instance, towns and cities have great variety of schools, universities and hospitals, which is basic need of every individual. Therefore, the number of rural people become increasingly higher day by day, they want to have better life access.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that the urban cities' population rise as it gives not only job opportunities and welfare but also boosts economic growth with increase work force. Meanwhile, the urban areas provide better health, study and basic facilities which leads to an adequate lifestyle .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear, defensible position that the migration of rural people to cities is a positive development. Relevant ideas are presented, such as improved job opportunities, better economic growth, and access to superior facilities like schools and hospitals. However, the development of these ideas is uneven. While the points regarding employment and infrastructure are introduced, some supporting arguments tend to be repetitive or lack extension, showing characteristics of both solid task coverage and some under-developed sections. For example, the mention of poor facilities in rural areas lists multiple issues quickly without fully elaborating on how urban migration specifically resolves each one in depth. To reach the next level, the writer would need to fully extend all main ideas with more cohesive elaboration and precise real-world examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction and maintained throughout. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct main points, such as employment in the second paragraph and infrastructural facilities in the third. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, using markers like 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion can occasionally feel somewhat mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'To explain it' and 'Basically'. Furthermore, some sentence-to-sentence transitions lack seamless flow, reflecting a standard of organisation that is logical overall but occasionally faulty in its micro-cohesion. To progress further, the writer should employ a wider and more flexible variety of cohesive devices and ensure referencing is consistently clear without relying on formulaic transition phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'immigrating', 'metropolitan', and 'infrastructural'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice inaccuracies that prevent the response from achieving a higher score. For instance, 'populace' is misused when population is intended, 'villlages' contains a spelling error, 'avaliable' is misspelled, and phrases like 'balance the standard lifestyle' and 'better life access' show awkward collocations. While these lexical errors and slips do not severely impede communication, they highlight an inconsistency in precision and control. To improve lexical resource, the student should focus on accurate spelling, natural word partnerships, and precise vocabulary choices suited to academic contexts.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues such as 'developed cities gives' instead of 'give', article omissions and misuse like 'gives employement' and 'at workplace', and awkward phrasing such as 'the number of rural people become increasingly higher'. Punctuation and preposition usage within grammatical patterns also show occasional lapses. Despite these errors, they rarely impede overall communication, meaning the core message remains understandable. To move to a higher band, the writer must demonstrate greater control over complex sentence structures and significantly reduce the frequency of basic agreement and article errors.
