Student answer (Band 5.5)
In many nations around the world, people are migrating to urban areas. while the population of countryside is reducing. Hence this essay will shed some light on its drawbacks and explain why I think it is a negative devlopment.
To begin with, nowadays most people are moving to cities for their convenience and this is the main reason behind the population of rural areas is falling. Many people want to live better quality of life, and as well as want proper facilites to live there life, while many people migrated to cities for better job oppurtunities as in cities big organisations offer high salaries and better work place to work. Furtermore big cities offer better health and education, while many people do not get proper eduction in rural areas due to the less availablities of facilities. Moreover urban areas is a moderanized places where a person can fulfill there all kind of needs.
On the other hand, due to this people living in both rural and urban centers are facing sevral problems such overcrowding. Many big cities are overcrowded due to which problems such as traffic jams and crime rates are increasing it is becoming very difficult for goverment to manage that areas. Likewise in villages due to decresing population the local shops are out of business and they are been closed, While many people are facing labour shortage for farming due to which crops fields are empty .
In conclusion, people are preffering urban centers and leaving rural areas for their convenience, due which people are facing such as labour shortage and overcrowding in cities. I count it as a negative development due to its drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position that the migration from rural to urban areas is a negative development. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the search for better facilities and job opportunities in cities, as well as the resulting problems of overcrowding and agricultural labor shortages in villages. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; for instance, the points regarding urban conveniences and rural depopulation are introduced but lack deeper explanation or fully realized supporting examples. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to extend and support all main ideas with more detailed elaboration rather than relying on brief generalizations.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion that outline the writer's stance. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments, such as the causes of migration in the second paragraph and the negative consequences in the third. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, transition phrases like 'Furtermore' and 'Likewise' are used, but referencing and logical progression between sentences occasionally feel abrupt, such as the sudden shift into the discussion on village shops and labor shortages in the third paragraph. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure smoother transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating enough range to discuss urban migration and its impacts. The writer attempts less common vocabulary items and phrases like 'convenience', 'proper facilites', and 'labour shortage'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'devlopment', 'oppurtunities', 'moderanized', 'sevral', and 'preffering'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they restrict the vocabulary score. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, improve spelling accuracy, and demonstrate more precise word choice and collocation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as 'while the population of countryside is reducing' and 'Many people want to live better quality of life'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including articles ('live better quality of life', 'less availablities'), preposition usage, and subject-verb agreement ('urban areas is a moderanized places', 'there all kind of needs'). Although these errors are present, they rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the main arguments. To reach the next level, the writer needs to produce a greater proportion of error-free sentences when using complex grammatical structures and pay closer attention to basic agreement and article rules.
