Student answer (Band 5.5)

With the rapid population growth in the world we see that most of the population is moving towards the urban cities and more apparently issues are increasing too according to my pinion it,s a negative development.

At first if we see around us most of the population residing in the cities came from from the rural areas in search of better opportuinites and quality education which is a good thing but due to this extensive migration we see that aour resources are getting under pressure and countrysides are getting abandoned as no one wants to live their but according to my opinion we can also develop our country sides just like our urban areas without destroying their natural beauty by providing same development are opportunites as ciities enjoy. for example in lahore most of the population is from the rural areas around them we can cope these by adding more facilites in rural so that more natural resources can be saved for our future generation and akhuwat pakistan is contributing alot in it in punjab.

Secondly, the biggest advantage is that mostly people leave their countrysides permanently when they move towards the cities which gives a negative impact on the economy too as most our agricultural activites are carried out in rural areas which contribute alot in our economy and one person,s well being a latest example of farmer survey in pakistan showed an alarming figures that more than 20% of farmers have left their field and moved towards the urban cities in past 10 years due to lack of resources and opportunites.

In conclusion , both rural and urban areas have their own presence in any country around the world. urban areas creat opportunities for young people specially in current era of technology advancement but govt should also work on the rural areas and equal opportunites can also be provided there with proper planning and infrastrcture.

Overall5.5

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position that the migration from rural to urban areas is a negative development. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the pressure on urban resources, the abandonment of countrysides, and the negative impact on agricultural economies. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack clarity. For instance, the mention of Lahore and 'akhuwat pakistan' is underdeveloped and slightly confusing in its explanation. While you present a clear stance and cover the prompt adequately, extending these examples with more detailed explanations would help fully develop your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response maintains a coherent overall arrangement, and the general progression of your argument can be followed from introduction to conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The writing suffers from a lack of proper punctuation, particularly the absence of full stops and capital letters to separate distinct sentences and ideas, making the essay read largely as a series of run-on sentences. For example, the first paragraph and the long middle paragraph contain multiple distinct thoughts linked only by commas or conjunctions. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion requires better signalling devices and clearer referencing.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'extensive migration', 'natural beauty', and 'infrastructure'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that occasionally impede communication, such as 'pinion' instead of opinion, 'opportuinites', 'aour', 'live their' instead of live there, and 'ciities'. While you manage to convey your core message, these lexical slips and minor inaccuracies prevent the vocabulary score from moving higher, showing the need for more careful proofreading of your chosen terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, including punctuation errors like comma splices, missing apostrophes in contractions like 'it,s', and issues with subject-verb agreement and pluralisation. For example, phrases like 'mostly people' and 'an alarming figures' show persistent minor grammatical inaccuracies. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede overall communication, reflecting a command of basic structures alongside developing control over more complex sentence patterns.
